We have all heard of 'The Upanishads' but not many of us read any of them. Yes they are difficult to approach - but as they are considered to be the finest part of the most ancient scriptures in the world - the Vedas - it is certainly worth a try.
Extracts from the Upanishads can be found in two paperbacks: 'The Upanishads' translated by Juan Mascaro, Penguin Classics. Also 'The Ten Principal Upanishads' put into English by Purohit Swami and W.B.Yeats. Faber and Faber.
During the Day we will explore the place of the Upanishads in Indian literature and also gently reflect on some of the writings.
If anyone has another translation of the Upanishads they are very welcome to bring it along so that we can compare translation
