JUST THIS DAY 2018

This is a morning event at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London with Laurence Freeman OSB and Fr Justin  from St Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai. 

Doors will open from 8.00 am with morning prayer 

From 9.00 am  will we have Meditation and Quiet Contemplation. 

You may stay to enjoy music from 9.30 am

until 

10.00 am,  when we will have 3 minute silence and a welcome from Rev Richard Carter from St Martin in the Fields. 

This will be followed by an introduction to our speakers by the Chairperson, Fleur Macdonald. 

Father Justin from St Catherine’s Monastery & Father Laurence from the World Community of Meditation.

Father Laurence will lead a 20 minute meditation and then dialogue with Fr Justin until 12.00 noon. 

We will end with thanks and meditation. 

St Martin in the Fields has a very good café in the Crypt which is now open from a later time of 10.00 am https://www.stmartin-in-the-fields.org/visit/cafe-in-the-crypt/   It serves a very good lunch.  Coffee and morning refreshments are available from Pret a Manger which is a good place to meet before the morning and is 1 minute walk from the Church.

Father Justin from St Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai will speak on the Ladder of Divine Access, a 4th Century work by St John Climacus (St John of the Ladder) which gives instruction to monks who wish to achieve the goal of full realisation of their identity with God.  There will be time for questions.  As there are limited places, it is important to register here 

Prior to these two events there will be a small exhibition of paintings and photographs from St Catherine’s Monastery at 11, Mandeville Place with some modern icons painted to represent some of those at the Monastery.  Anyone wishing to visit in the 2 weeks before Just this Day should contact Liz Edmunds at elizabeth.edmunds4@btinternet.com
