20th March – 27th March 2016 Bere Island, County Cork, Ireland

The Bere Island Easter Meditation Retreat is an interior pilgrimage of the Easter mysteries as they unfold in Holy Week. The Retreat programme includes regular meditation periods, talks by Fr Laurence Freeman, the Easter liturgies with the island people and time for reading, walks and solitude.

With its deep history and great natural beauty, Bere Island is an ideal space to open to the spiritual meaning of the season. Join us for our Annual Easter Retreat.

Palm Sunday opens the Retreat with a liturgy in the church at 10.00 am followed by a talk and meditation at the Heritage Centre at 5.30 pm. There will be yoga each morning at the Heritage Centre followed by regular meditation periods and talks by Fr. Laurence. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be on Thursday at 7.00 pm. The Good Friday service will be at 3.00 pm. The Easter Vigil will begin on Saturday at 9.00 pm. At dawn on Easter Morning those who wish will assemble by the Standing Stone in the centre of the island.   The Retreat will conclude at the Heritage Centre with a final talk and meditation at 8.00 am.  There will however be an Easter Mass at the parish church at 10.00 am to which all are welcome.

Participants are of course welcome to come before or stay after the Retreat and enjoy the island. The Retreat is open to all and some sessions are particularly addressed to young adults.
